Environ™ Coil System on Energence® Rooftop Units maximizes reliability and sustainability

Dallas, TX – (March 15, 2012) – Lennox’ energy-efficient Energence® rooftop units just got even more eco-friendly—with the addition of a new all-aluminum condenser coil that significantly reduces refrigerant charge requirements. The Environ™ Coil System offers innovative technology that helps maximize reliability and sustainability.

The Environ coil uses up to 45% less refrigerant than a traditional tube-and-fin condenser coil, providing sustainable savings. Additionally, the coil’s all-aluminum construction results in a significantly lighter unit weight, shaving approximately 90 pounds from a 10-ton rooftop unit. Less brazed joints—approximately 20% less compared to that of tube-and-fin coils—decreases the potential for leakage, increasing the reliability of the system. Finally, a mounting configuration that uses rubber inserts provides vibration dampening to prevent damage during shipping, as well as isolation to protect against corrosion.

The Environ coil is currently available on Energence 7.5- to 12.5-ton and 20- to 30-ton units. The coil will soon be offered on other Energence units. A 3-year warranty is also included with the Environ coil.

Energence® rooftop units

The Energence 3- to 50-ton rooftop unit product line combines ultra-efficient performance with the intelligent Prodigy® control system to achieve a low total cost of ownership. Designed to help buildings qualify for LEED® points, the ENERGY STAR® qualified Energence rooftop unit features ratings up to 18 SEER, 12.8 EER and 14.5 IEER. The unit also exceeds ASHRAE 90.1-2010 minimum standards by more than 35%, helping buildings meet green building requirements while delivering measurable energy savings.
